PURAC® HiPure 90 is our high-quality grade of L-lactic acid, ideal for highly concentrated low pH anti-aging formulations.

Fermented from natural carbohydrates, PURAC HiPure could be considered ‘the body’s own Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), since lactic acid is exclusively produced by the metabolic conversion of glucose or glycogen in the body.

Biobased solutions for anti-aging

Specifically, the anti-aging effects of lactic acid come from its ability to stimulate exfoliation in the upper levels of the skin, nurture cell renewal, moisturize the skin, and increase dermal and epidermal thickness.

By stimulating cell renewal in the skin’s epidermis, PURAC HiPure helps create a smoother, younger looking skin, while also reducing skin pigmentation and thus enabling skin brightening and lightening.

Additionally, lactic acid has been shown to increase the thickness of the epidermis and the dermis, resulting in firmer skin with reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Efficacy of formulations

You can vary the efficacy of a formulation by changing the lactic acid concentration and pH. A lower pH and higher lactic acid concentration will boost anti-aging effects even more.
