Maintaining a healthy feed intake in swine can be a challenge, particularly with piglets, which are often susceptible to weaning stress and the problems that can go with it: loss of appetite, weight reduction, and vulnerability to infections.

That’s why Corbion developed LAFEED®, a lactic acid-based feed-grade additive that helps boost feed intake and improves digestive health by prompting optimal acidification of the stomach.

A relatively strong organic acid produced by fermentation of sugar, LAFEED® has an agreeable taste that encourages piglets to eat. It also dissociates easily to gently acidify the stomach, discouraging the growth of H. pylori, a bacterium that can cause gastric ulcers and creating a healthier, more balanced environment.

Improving digestion in animals – whether pigs or poultry – enhances performance by increasing nutrient uptake, inhibiting microbial growth, even reducing harmful bacteria and the shedding of gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella, E. coli, and Campylobacter, thereby reducing the spread of disease to other animals.
